THE EASIEST WAY TO SAY THANKS TO YOUR SPOTIFY FANS

Shoutout to your fans like never before…

Spotify Wrapped is coming! You know, those cool little screenshots of listening and streaming stats that every artists and listener posts at the end of the year that shows most streamed songs, how many fans listened to you, how many streams you had, etc. etc.

This year, Spotify is stepping up their game by allowing you to say THANK YOU directly to your followers on the platform with your Artist Message.

You can record a short, under-30-second video to let fans know what their support meant to you in 2022. You can thank your fans, tease what you’re working on next, or tell a story that defined your year. Once your video is uploaded and approved, it will appear in a Wrapped video playlist personalized to each listener.

Pretty awesome!

Here’s how:

  • Record a vertical, under-30-second “thank you” video.

  • Make sure your video has no music, singing, or lyrics; no explicit content; no logos or brands; and no added text, graphics, or filters.

  • Upload via Spotify for Artists on the app or desktop web starting October 24, 2022.

There’s no need to make something overly produced or “perfect”, but make sure the lighting and audio are both decent! Your TOP FANS are going to see this - people who’ve listened to your music more than anyone else this year, so just talk to them like this! It doesn’t have to be overly fancy or scripted.

A quick note: You will be asked to fill in a title. The title will shop up in the fan’s Spotify Wrapped as a banner with your artist name. (Meaning, you don’t need to introduce yourself in the video). The title is a spot for you to put additional information. You could put something like “Thanks for the support! -Chris”

OR you could get a little more creative and say something like “Because you’re one of my top fans, here’s a special discount for you. Use the code WRAPPED for x% off anything at my store!”

If you didn’t know, Spotify has partnered with Shopify to allow artists to list merch directly on their Spotify profiles. We’d recommend setting up a store with Printful so you can automate the entire process.

Take it a step farther: Saying thank you to your fans is always a good idea. It’s amazing that Spotify has brought this to their platform, but why not take it a step farther? We’d recommend filming (or editing) horizontal and square versions of your thank you message also. Post those to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube to thank you fans for their support. You could even embed it into an email blast and send it directly to the people who support you the most!

If you haven’t signed up for Spotify for Artists, go here and do it now: https://artists.spotify.com/.

Get your Artist Message uploaded, and keep an eye on your socials once Spotify Wrapped goes live. Your fans will certainly tag you, so be sure to respond and maintain those relationships!
